LabVIEW
LabVIEW graphical programming software is now available on Sun SPARCstations running Solaris 1.x or 2.x. With LabVIEW, users build software modules called virtual instruments (VIs) instead of writing text-based programs. LabVIEW has ready-to-use controls, graphs, and strip charts for quickly and easily building custom user interfaces and control panels. Icon libraries include GPIB, VXI, and Instrument Driver VI libraries for controlling over 260 GPIB, VXI and RS-232 instruments using the company's interface hardware; and Analysis VI libraries for performing data analysis, including routines ranging from simple statistics to digital signal processing (DSP).

Price: $2,995 for single-user, floating license that includes GPIB VI Library, Instrument Driver VI Library, Analysis VI Libraries, VXI VI Library, and CIN Toolkit. Multi-user site licensing is also available.

Compatibility: SPARCstation

LabWindows/CVI
LabWindows/CVI is automatic code-generation software for developing instrumentation applications with C under the Solaris operating system. It is a 32-bit development environment that includes an ANSI C compiler, linker, debugger, variable trace display, and memory checking capabilities. LabWindows/CVI has libraries for designing graphical user interfaces; acquiring data from data acquisition and signal conditioning hardware and GPIB, VXI, and RS-232 instruments; data analysis; data presentation; and networking. Users can incorporate C source files, object modules and dynamic link libraries into LabWindows/CVI programs. Programs developed with LabWindows/CVI are portable between Windows-based PCs and Solaris SPARCstations. DOS-based LabWindows C programs can run in LabWindows/CVI.

Price: $2,995 for a single user floating license. It includes the GPIB Library, Instrument Library, Analysis libraries, User Interface Library, Utility libraries and the standard ANSI C libraries.

Compatibility: SPARCstation
